If you are like us, life is hectic to say the least! It seems like by the time we get up in the morning and say hello to a new day, the day is gone and we didn't get anything done! Ok...so not quite that bad...but it does seem like we rush from one place to the next, always planning our next course of action to try to get everything done today we have on our to-do list. So where does that leave homeschooling?
Well, for so many people this is the reality - too much to do and not enough day to do it all in. And then we add the overwhelming conviction and belief that homeschooling is right for our family and WHAM! stress level through the roof! Let me just encourage you that you are not alone! While homeschooling is the choice we have made and that we are completely at peace with, it does not mean that the rest of our lives or our family's life is going to stop and make room for this decision with ease. We are going to have to fight to make homeschooling our passion, our priority and we have to constantly remember our purpose in it!
You see, if we have homeschooled for a reason - not just a whim, but a strongly held conviction and purpose, then that purpose will drive us to make the necessary changes in schedule. When it just isn't possible to rearrange our schedule, maybe our work or our church life, then we will find the resolve to work around it - if we remember that there is NOTHING in this life more important than the task that God has given us as mothers and fathers - to raise our children up in the love and admonition of the Lord - to keep the Word of God before them when we rise up, when we walk down the road, when we stand in the streets or in the home and when we lie down. DO NOT GIVE UP! It is a battle ground that you are on - you are fighting for the time and energy to teach your children about Christ (and you thought it was just math didn't you?)...you are battling the urge to let laundry and cooking and choir and work keep you from your primary responsibility in your life as a mom! Don't concede the battle - keep pressing on...you are not fighting for your time - you are fighting for their worldview, their belief system, their doctrinal foundation, their concept of family life, their structure of marriage and parenting...you are teaching in every moment of what you do - like it or not! Have you prepared your lesson plans today?
WOW! I so needed to hear/read this. Thank you for reminding me.
