I am so thankful that the elections are finally over! I got so tired of hearing that phrase and then hearing my boys mimic that phrase! It is a shame that in our society so much can be said and SPREAD without our knowledge or approval! Computers have changed everything about our lives in so many ways - we had this discussion recently in our home:
"I can't believe you didn't have the internet!... Not even cell phones? How did you talk to each other?... It must have been so sad for you growing up..." Had this conversation with your children? This was their reactions when we told them about our having to stop at pay phones on the side of the road to make calls or having to actually mail letters to each other when we were dating! They were amazed....then I saw it - pity in their eyes!
While computers have become a necessary evil in so many ways, for homeschooling they are amazing resources! We are studying astronomy in science this first part of our school year and being able to pull up pictures from telescopes around our world to see outer space - incredible! Any time we have questions about George Washington or Martin Luther or William Wallace, just pull up their information on google! I mentioned the other day that we used "encyclopedias" to do research prior to the internet and was met with the question "Was that a book you had to buy?"
Times have changed! As homeschool moms - good luck keeping up!
